Agility
Agility offers a fun, fast paced, team sport for you and your dog. You will watch in amazement as your energetic canine learns how to navigate an obstacle course by jumping hurdles, climbing walls, zig zagging through weave poles, and darting through tunnels. What's even more amazing is how YOU learn to navigate the same course with them.

New students can now join every month.  Each day and time agility is offered will be dedicated to that level indicated on the schedule.  Once your dog is ready to advance, you will change to that levels day or time.  You now pay by the month and have the ability to move at your own pace.

Agility Basics:  For dogs 6 months or older or puppies with experienced trainers - This class is designed for the beginner dog, taught by Catherine Laria, on Monday nights.  Catherine will teach you and your dog obstacle performance, basic obedience for agility such as fast downs, stays, recalls, direction, and more.  Catherine has been training in agility for over 8 years now and has reached the Master and Excellent levels in USDAA and AKC.  She has also competed at the USDAA nationals.  Even if your desire is to be noncompetitive in agility, Catherine is sure to give you and your dog the best start possible.

New dogs must start the first Wednesday of the month and pay for the entire month.  After that, they can proceed on a month to month or week to week basis.

$45- per month - ($25 if paid class by class) - 1 hour/1 day a week. (Back to Schedule)

Intermediate Agility:  For dogs who have begun sequencing. This class is designed to build the team's confidence and skills.  Obstacle performance will become more proficient while performing sequences.  You will also begin to learn the different games of each agility venue and show etiquette.  Taught by Courtney Moore, Courtney's family has two of the highest ranking dogs in San Antonio.  April has an ADCh for USDAA, a MACH 2 for AKC and a UD.  She is a 3x AKC Champion and 6x AKC Finalist.  Not to be outdone, her little boy Bear who also has an ADCh and just finished his MACH 4 in 2006.  He is a 2x USDAA Grand Prix finalist and a 3x AKC finalist.   Their Border Collies, Nike and Streak, are also highly decorated with Nike beating out the top 18" dogs in the country at the International Sweepstakes in Houston in 2005 and 2006 and finishing her MACH in 2006.  What do all those letters mean?  Great dogs trained by great trainers....so who better to help you work your dog?!   Your dog will need to be under control while you work off leash during this class.  If you are coming from another training facility, signing up for this class would need to be approved by a K9CC instructor.
$45 - per month ($25 if paid class by class) - 1 hour/1 day a week.  (Back to Schedule)

Advanced & Masters Agility:   You do not have to have earned a title yet but you must be able to perform longer, show quality, sequences and courses.  We will work on technique, handling styles, and game performance while building speed and endurance.

$45 - per month ($25 if paid class by class) - 1 hour/1 day a week.  (Back to Schedule)

Private Lessons are also available for those who are already competing.
$40 - per hour - $25 per 1/2 hour.   (Back to Schedule)

Obedience
Enrolling your dog in an obedience class can very well be one of the best things you can do for both them and the family. Whether you are training for future competitions or just trying to get down some basic manners, starting with obedience classes is the way to go. Even if they are great at home. Taking what they've learned from you "on the road" in a class-like atmosphere is a great way to test their skills and your commands.

We will limit the number of students in each class, so please make your reservations early.(Back to Top)

Basic: Your dog is never to old to appreciate the benefits of learning obedience. This class will cover the Basic Manners of Not Jumping Up, Waiting, Leaving Items Alone, Healing on Lead, Sit, Stand, Down-Stays, Coming when called and much more.
$65 - 6 weeks - 1 hour/1 day a week. (Back to Schedule)

Novice: For dogs who have completed a basic obedience course. Taught by Debbie Moore, this class concentrates on strengthening the skills taught in the basic class with an emphasis on proper footwork, longer recalls, timed sit and down-stays, and stands for exams.  In addition we are pleased to offer training in RALLY, a new competition in AKC designed to work on your obedience skills in a fun and entertaining way for you and your dog.
$65 - 6 weeks - 1 hour / 1 day a week. (Back to Schedule)

Open / Utility: For all dogs with a C. D. title or dogs who have successfully completed the Novice Class. Receive instruction on Off-Lead Healing, Recalls, Timed Stays, Retrieving and Jumping, Dumbbell and Scent Article work.
$65 - 6 weeks - 1 hour / 1 day a week. (Back to Schedule)

Puppy

Puppy Basics: For puppies 9 weeks to 6 months - This is the perfect time to start your puppy off on the right track. While learning the building blocks of basic obedience such as walking on lead, coming when called, sits and stays.  Your puppy will be introduced to many of the obstacles they will see in the great outdoors. They will begin to target, learn how to use ALL FOUR of their feet, and socialize with other puppies.
$65 - 6 weeks - 1 hour / 1 day a week. (Back to Schedule)

Herding

Herding:

Private Lessons are available with Catherine Laria, owner of K9 Country Club.  We offer multiple pens to work in and various levels of sheep.  We suggest to start a dog for the first time with a 1/2 hour lesson and then continue with hour lessons if you choose.  In the first lesson we will introduce your dog to sheep and look for a desire to work stock.  We can do this for an individual or small groups/clubs (Group events may receive a discount.  Call for details)

$25 - 1/2-Hour Private Lesson

$40 - Hour Lesson

"Herding Dogs can be trained without ANY type of abuse or cruel measures
Patience and understanding is the key to molding an individual dog's instinct
into useful tasks" - Rodney Long

Dock Diving

Dock Diving is a great new sport that K9 Country Club is participating in.  We have recently found docks willing to take dogs who are already jumping.  So to get your dog ready for the big time, if he's not already jumping off a standard dock, we need to get them out to our Beach Club first!!  We tried having a Class but found that we can get more accomplished by working with a dog one on one for the full 30 minutes.  Your dog will have an opportunity to work on land, on shore, and in the air.  In addition you will get tips on other sports you and your dog may be interested in, as well as obedience tips.  You must call in to make a reservation.

Flyball
Agility not fast enough? Try your hand at Flyball! This sport was designed with speed and more speed in mind. Dogs race against each other in a relay format while jumping over four hurdles and retrieving a tennis ball in the air that springs out of a box, than racing back to the finish line. All while other dogs are barking at the top of their lungs in anticipation of their next turn.  We have been unable to find an instructor for K9CC so we are referring people to Alamo Racing Canines in San Antonio at this time.  You can find them on line.  Once you are training, if you join K9CC's membership, you can come out and use our Flyball equipment any time to practice.
